A Thank You email from the United States

Caterpillar 633 scraper

On my way to work yesterday I checked my emails. Jeff Dean, marketing manager of CCM Inc (Classic Construction Models), a construction equipment toy designer based in Oregon, was in touch with a ‘thank you’ note. I pulled over.

CCM specialise in making limited edition scale models, and Dean had some direct news. The company is releasing two new Caterpillar scrapers in 1:48 scale, the Cat 633 and Cat 639D, and Dean was writing to thank me.

First and foremost, I want to thank you for the time and effort it took to put together such a comprehensive resource about a Block “C” era machine with a very limited total production.  Second, I also wanted to address your points for the model collector at the end of the articles on both the 633 and 639D, as these models will both soon be available in 1:48 scale!”

It’s Richard Campbell who was owed the direct thanks, and I was pleased to pass them on. To my way of thinking Jeff Dean was putting into words what a number of people from around the globe (100 people from Uruguay today) who read our Classic Machines content must also be thinking, an ongoing appreciation for comprehensively written articles on a fascinating range of machines.

We thank our Uruguayan fans with us online today!

So thank you Richard, for making my job so interesting, and for putting your love of old iron into an engaging and informative column. We are fortunate to be associated with your talent. 👏👏👏

P.S The articles on the 633 and 639D have been amended to reflect CCM news.
