The 2018 BuildAKL campaign won a Gold award at the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Excellence Awards that took place in Atlanta, USA last month.
Auckland received five Excellence in Economic Development Awards – which recognise the world’s best economic development programmes, partnerships, marketing materials and leaders – for initiatives designed by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), Auckland’s economic growth agency.
Auckland projects won a gold and four bronze accolades. The Gold was awarded to the BuildAKL campaign, which was a youth recruitment campaign aimed at 16-24 years to get then into the construction and infrastructure sector.
ATEED says 4500 young Aucklanders were attracted into employment, education or training, and 1500 were employed in the sector and a further 3000 enrolled in industry training courses or made career subject choices.
Key campaign partners included CityCare Group, Downer, Fletcher Building, Hawkins, Hirepool, CCNZ Auckland branch, Women in Construction, and Connexis.
