Conexpo 2017 Destination Las Vegas

By Charles Fairbairn

Last month I received an early morning phone-call. It was my manager asking me if I’d like to attend Conexpo 2017 as Contrafed’s official delegate.

“It’s an immense event.. new equipment..Las Vegas..new technology.. Las Vegas.”

That’s sort of what he said. Ok I borrowed parts.

Well the experience has already started thank you. Of course I said yes immediately,  and went back to the family’s early January activities. A friend asked me if I had seen some movie about hangovers but the reference escaped me.

Having completed the visa documentation process I’m now good for an initial field-report. My email address has been added into a vast and incredibly slick marketing machine and I’m being flooded with invitations to attend press-conferences,  instructions on monorail exit strategies, and other such minutiae.  I have an app I can use to plan my days inside  vast halls, and I have a shopping list.

If you need to organise a US visa don’t purchase a coffee and take to it Level Three of the US Embassy. And maybe take some reading material as it’s a busy place and old copies of the Smithsonian Museum magazine don’t last the distance.

I shall look forward to describing what ensues.
